I am a native New Yorker who went through the public school system then through the state college system and then I was thrown into the job market where I have been since.
Since graduating in January 2017, I have attended numerous coding classes and meetups across NYC to get my programming skills leveled up.
History
In terms of coding history, I have attended the CUNYCodes portfolio intensive bootcamp, the CodeSmith Frameworks Full Stack Bootcamp and have participated in various hackathons and meetups across the city. Every event I go to it seems like there is a lot of I don't know what I don't know. So I try to dabble and learn something from every event I go.
A noteworthy event happened to me when I went to a workshop at Google’s Office in NYC and a recruiter told me “it is becoming the norm to graduate with a bachelors then attend a boot camp and then have a few projects on the side before applying for a job with them.” So I took that to heart and have been doing just that. My dream is to one day work for big company like Google where the culture is so positive that I look forward to having fun at work.
What am I doing with my life?
As of September 2017 I am an Computer Scientist (Intern) at The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in Detroit Michigan as part of the Computer Simulations Team, we basically run simulations for various scenarios involving people, vehicles and the environment. (Yes I conduct real experiments and enjoy it as the ARMY has the latest and greatest technology available, in the event they don’t, they go out and buy it.)
