About Me

I am a native New Yorker who went through the public school system then through the state college system and then I was thrown into the job market where I have been since.

Since graduating in January 2017, I have attended numerous coding classes and meetups across NYC to get my programming skills leveled up.

History

In terms of coding history, I have attended the CUNYCodes portfolio intensive bootcamp, the CodeSmith Frameworks Full Stack Bootcamp and have participated in various hackathons and meetups across the city. Every event I go to it seems like there is a lot of I don't know what I don't know. So I try to dabble and learn something from every event I go.

A noteworthy event happened to me when I went to a workshop at Google’s Office in NYC and a recruiter told me “it is becoming the norm to graduate with a bachelors then attend a boot camp and then have a few projects on the side before applying for a job with them.” So I took that to heart and have been doing just that. My dream is to one day work for big company like Google where the culture is so positive that I look forward to having fun at work.

What am I doing with my life?

As of September 2017 I am an Computer Scientist (Intern) at The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in Detroit Michigan as part of the Computer Simulations Team, we basically run simulations for various scenarios involving people, vehicles and the environment. (Yes I conduct real experiments and enjoy it as the ARMY has the latest and greatest technology available, in the event they don’t, they go out and buy it.)

A few of my hobbies are:

  • Playing competitive video games with my friends such as Overwatch or Halo.
  • Running, I am actually a lifelong runner, been running ever since high school, through college, through the military, through college again, and now still to this day.
  • Working out, exercise is my way of destressing and learning, I put on podcasts and audio books of stuff I’m interested in and learn on the go.
  • Muay Thai kickboxing, I been a student for years, I actually trained at the Lumpinee boxing Stadium in Bangkok Thailand for a month. Most recently I spent a year and a half with the Iron Rooster Team in NYC but have since taken a year break due to working in Detroit. I look forward to continuing when I get a chance.
  • My vice is that I am a glutton, I love to eat at different restaurants every chance I get, the sense of eating in a new place with new people is exciting every time I go out. Fun fact: You could probably bribe me with a cookie

    My GitHub

When I started coding I never used GitHub, I just kept multiple file save states. After working on various teams and learning about version control I started using it more. Unfortunately A lot of what I do is offline due to security issues but I post personal projects online.
